75th Anniversary Band Jam

75th Anniversaries are special.  We will be celebrating the Irving Band’s 75th Anniversary this year.  The night will be Friday night, November 1st.  We will honor a guest conductor this year.  (Stay tuned for that announcement).

AND we will have our last BAND JAM Alumni Band for the foreseeable future.  So get out your instruments and get practicing.  We will have a series of FOUR rehearsals this year.  This is help you get your chops back.  The music is posted on this website, download it and play away.

If you’re not planning to play, just come and enjoy yourself and be part of the celebration.  Details will be posted about the event very shortly.  Yes, there will be commemorative shirts and wristbands (that are really cool.)

Gear UP!  It’s time to have some fun and celebrate the band’s 75th birthday!

75th Tiger Band Anniversary planning underway

Tiger Band Alumni!

The IHSBAA is hard at work planning the 75th Tiger Band Anniversary event of a lifetime.  We’re going to rock the City of Irving this time!  Events will include the last Alumni Band event for the foreseeable future and some other things that will knock your socks off. Stay tuned, we’re going to step out big time this fall!

-Ray DeYoung, Chairman, Co-Founding Director-IHSBAA

2012 Band Jam T-shirts!!!

Fellow IHS Band Alumni! Here it is, the long awaited 2012 BAND JAM Commemorative T-shirt. You don’t want to be seen at the Band Jam without one of these awesome shirts on. Ideally, I would like to see everyone in the Alumni Band have one of these on for the night. They are high quality, 100% Ultra Cotton shirts. Available in S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL, XXXXL! To order, simply cut a check (don’t forget to tell us who it’s for) to the IHSBAA for $12 (for S-XL) or $13 (for XXL or larger) and mail it to:

IHSBAA
P.O. BOX 140834
IRVING, TX 75014-0834

Shirts can be picked up at the 2nd Band Jam Rehearsal or at the game. This is a charitable, tax deductible purchase benefiting the IHSBAA (a 501 (c)3 organization). Buy one, buy 10, everyone needs one, we are playing MAC that night after all!
.

The IHSBAA needs YOU!

The IHSBAA operates as a 501(c)(3) in complete compliance with IRS regulations for non-profit organizations making less than $5000 per year and all donations made to us are 100% tax-deductible. However, many foundations and corporations will not grant funds to a charity without an official IRS “Letter of Designation” which requires additional forms and fees. While we have submitted this application to the IRS, they are still processing applications from 2011 and we will not have that IRS official designation in time for the 3rd Annual Band Jam on NOV 09.

As Fundraising Director, this puts my team in a bit of a bind as it limits some of the things that we were hoping to be able to do this year in the way of prizes. While Kim (Koether) Jakusz & I were able to obtain $1200 in prizes last year in only 2 weeks, we need to at least double our prize offerings this year so that we can double our proceeds and really make a significant contribution to the current IHS Band program.

This is where the IHSBAA needs **your** help. We need folks to step up and join the Fundraising Committee or help us by either directly donating cash or prizes that we can use as raffle and door prizes or by putting Kim or me in *direct contact* with a willing donor.

I’m not looking for “Have you thought about …” or “I think so-and-so might be a good idea”. We need direct donations or you putting us in direct contact with someone who is willing to support our cause.

Thus far, two of our alumni have already stepped forward with donations:

* Wendell Hanson (’85, Percussion) Three Guys Photography

* Grant Wood (’80, Trombone) Revolver Brewing

If you have a business and you wish to donate your goods or services as a prize, please contat us immediately. Or, if you don’t have a specific good or service that would serve as a prize, then buy a gift card and send it to:

IHSBAA
PO Box 140834
Irving, TX 75014-0834

or contact Lee Fisher or Kim (Koether) Jakusz to see how you can help or participate.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Lee Fisher
IHSBAA Fundraising Director
