The IHSBAA operates as a 501(c)(3) in complete compliance with IRS regulations for non-profit organizations making less than $5000 per year and all donations made to us are 100% tax-deductible. However, many foundations and corporations will not grant funds to a charity without an official IRS “Letter of Designation” which requires additional forms and fees. While we have submitted this application to the IRS, they are still processing applications from 2011 and we will not have that IRS official designation in time for the 3rd Annual Band Jam on NOV 09.
As Fundraising Director, this puts my team in a bit of a bind as it limits some of the things that we were hoping to be able to do this year in the way of prizes. While Kim (Koether) Jakusz & I were able to obtain $1200 in prizes last year in only 2 weeks, we need to at least double our prize offerings this year so that we can double our proceeds and really make a significant contribution to the current IHS Band program.
This is where the IHSBAA needs **your** help. We need folks to step up and join the Fundraising Committee or help us by either directly donating cash or prizes that we can use as raffle and door prizes or by putting Kim or me in *direct contact* with a willing donor.
I’m not looking for “Have you thought about …” or “I think so-and-so might be a good idea”. We need direct donations or you putting us in direct contact with someone who is willing to support our cause.
Thus far, two of our alumni have already stepped forward with donations:
If you have a business and you wish to donate your goods or services as a prize, please contat us immediately. Or, if you don’t have a specific good or service that would serve as a prize, then buy a gift card and send it to:
