Merry Band of Christmas – Final Rehearsal before Tree Lighting

For those participating in the Merry Band of Christmas, our final rehearsal before the Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall is Wednesday evening (November 30th) from 8-10PM. For those that did not attend the rehearsal on Sunday, November 27th, this rehearsal is mandatory for those playing at the December 3rd event. We have made significant modifications to many of the pieces and members should be aware of these changes before the event. Below is the venue information for Wednesday’s rehearsal:

Merry Band of Christmas

The IHSBAA “Merry Band of Christmas” will be playing at the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony outside, between City Hall and the Central Library at 4:30 PM on Saturday December 3rd.

The IHSBAA “Merry Band of Christmas” arrives at 3:30 to set up. We start playing at 4:30 until 5:30 when the other festivities for the ceremony begins. When the ceremony ends at 6:30, the IHSBAA Merry Band of Christmas plays again to close out the evening’s festivities.

    To uphold the Dignity, Honor and Pride of the Irving High School Tiger Band by preserving its unique history, strengthening friendships, and above all else, ensuring a tradition of musical excellence for future generations.

    • Raising funds for scholarships and other means of assisting students who are financially in need, musically talented, and demonstrate dignity, honor and pride in their academic and community endeavors. 
    • Recruiting recent Tiger Band graduates, along with former students from all generations, to continually infuse the organization with new members and subsequently new ideas. 
    • Developing and maintaining an accurate, historic, annual record of the Irving High School Tiger Band, from its formation in 1938 through the current year, as an ongoing, perpetual legacy for future classes and generations.
